Cultural link, art, politics and activism.
More and more people is realizing the importance of Jaguars in our region, specially because the competition for lands between humans and Jaguars is getting worse. Paraguay is an important place for us because Jaguars need connectivity, I don’t mean WiFi or LoRaWAN, I mean the Jaguar populations across America must have continuous areas in order to allow the Jaguars to move freely, just remember that one of these Cats can cover a lot of terrain. Connectivity is also important to allow the blending of subspecies.

Once again, the sensibility of Artists is saying "Hey there, see what is happening". But not only that, people is understanding that this critical issue must be addressed from very different perspectives, from science, to politics to activism.

A few days ago I got in contact with a very talented woman named Ingrid Seall, she is a sculptor, she and Andrea Weiler Gustafson, a biologist from Paraguay had a very good Idea: 18 Artists to create one piece of art each. Why 18 ? because Jaguars are still present in 18 countries in America. But the clever ideas doesn’t stop there, they will make an auction and the funds they get will be donated to NGOs working to avoid the Jaguars extinction. Clever, right ? Well, it doesn’t stop there, the 18 Jaguar artistic pieces will be place in different government places to make some lobby and put the pressure on authorities in order to make them think about Jaguar safety, and as I always say, our own safety. They have a few goals in mind: to change the current Jaguar law, to enhance the cultural link and they also work in some field activities to reduce the human – Jaguar conflict; and it doesn’t stop there yet! They are trying to engage many other players including companies, media, influencers and everyone who can contribute to repair our relationship with Jaguars and their environment. As for me, I cheer SomosYaguareté and I will keep posting their advances on the what is going on section.
