Biodiversity Crisis

The biodiversity crisis and its impacts is being recognized by the World Economic Forum and  many other worldwide institutions, however, I don't see any reaction to the situation. The situations is quite complex and it is  also misleading because, as it happens with everything nowadays, bad politics got in the middle by exaggerating the damage made by capitalism or denying the climate change or global warming issues. I prefer to stick to the numbers, they are cold, they don't lie.

In the case of Jaguars (Yaguaretés) in Argentina, they lost their 95% of habitat, that fact is undeniable. I Live in Buenos Aires City, close to the city there is a place called "Tigre", that is because, in the past, Tigres as they called Jaguars here, used to live there. Today in Argentina, no one knows the exact number, but I would say everyone agrees on the 200 Jaguars alive. The same happens with Cheetahs, it is estimated that only 7000 remains alive in Africa and they lost more that the 70% of their habitat in the entire continent. While Jaguars, Cheetahs or Macaws catch the eye for their magnificence, the truth is that human activity has caused the loss of more than the 80% of wild animals on the planet. They were all functional to the ecosystem and that seems to be a critical and non-sustainable situation. If you want to dig into the details:
